Our Philosophy

It is our goal to create and maintain a warm, nurturing environment that supports the naturally paced emotional, social, physical, and intellectual growth of each child. In our program learning is integrated into the daily routine, and playing is not separated from learning; playing is learning. We are committed to implementing some of Piaget’s theory of Cognitive Development in our childcare Program.  We believe in Piaget’s educational approach, in that children have the opportunity to explore and experience a variety of activities. Located inside a fitness facility makes us unique to other centers. It allows us to incorporate fitness and health into the lives of our children at a very early age, which is proven to carry over into their teenage years and adulthood.

Our Curriculum

FitKids Childcare implements the Creative Curriculum approach in supporting the developmental needs of the children in our care.  We use the Creative Curriculum as a guide when creating lesson plans, holding parent/teacher conferences and organizing our classrooms to provide a variety of activities to meet each area of a child’s development.

What Makes Us Unique?

Located inside a fitness facility sets FitKids Childcare apart from other area childcare programs.  On a daily basis children in our care have access to the club’s Yoga Studio, climbing wall and open studios.  The children enjoy gross motor activities daily no matter what the weather. Through the use of RVC’s facility we are able to encourage team-building activities, large motor coordination and promote healthy lifestyle choices.  Children have the support of our FitKids Childcare staff to encourage, motivate and promote exercise through various planned activities.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

How many children is FitKids licensed for? We are licensed to accommodate 39 children.

What is your teacher to child ratio? We follow the guidelines set forth by the State of New Hampshire Child Licensing Bureau. Our teacher to child ratio in the infant room is 1:4; toddler room 1:5; preschool 1:8. You will find that most days we have a lower teacher to child ratio.

What is your sick policy? We strictly enforce the 24-hour after symptoms subside policy before a child can return to the program.

How long is your waitlist? Our waitlist is forever changing and there is no real timeline for enrollment. Please be in touch with our Director for an accurate timeline.

How do I enroll my child at FitKids? Paperwork and a one month’s deposit is required for enrollment. The deposit can be credited towards your child’s last month’s tuition when 30 days notice is given.

From a Parent’s Perspective

Written By: Alix Norris

“As any working mom can tell you, having a good daycare is priceless. A good daycare with competent caregivers helps not only to alleviate the added stress of leaving your child, but also gives you the happiness of knowing your child is having a good time while you’re away.

I am a happy working mom because I found all of this at Fit Kids Childcare.  FitKids is a community daycare that is located within the River Valley Club, convenient for parents who work in Centerra Park or at DHMC.

Their recently renovated space includes a number of classrooms or playrooms to accommodate children of all ages, a full kitchen and a great outside/playground area.

The staff at Fit Kids are exceedingly caring and friendly and really get to know every child that walks through their doors.

My 1-year-old daughter, Annabelle, has been at FitKids since she was eight weeks old and I think she feels the infant room is her “home away from home” and that her caregivers (Rose and Megan) are her “second moms.”

My favorite time of the day is walking into the toddler room or onto the playground to see Annabelle laughing and running around the room, playing with other children.  It’s like a soothing balm after a long, hard workday.

Rose and Megan are more than helpful in getting Annabelle through a growing pain (usually teeth!) or adjusting to new things (no more bottles!).

As mothers themselves, they are more than understanding when I want to call for no other reason than to just see how things are going.

I am very happy with the staff and environment at FitKids Childcare and would highly recommend it for any expecting parents who will need daycare.”
