Dragonfly Classroom (Pre-school)
The Dragonfly Room
The Dragonfly Room at Fit Kids Childcare Center is designed to prepare children for their first experiences in the school system. Children enter this classroom at approximately 3 years old or earlier if their development is rapidly emerging. This classroom can accommodate up to 16 children with two teachers. The goal of this classroom is to develop self-help skills, participate in co-operative play with their peers, gain a sense of understanding about responsibility and nurture the early stages of reading, writing and math skills. The room is designed in a way that allows the children to play together in centers or in small groups with a teacher. Children take on a role in the classroom each week as the table setter, calendar helper, line leader and more.
The teachers in this room include the children in most decision making processes for their class. This gives the children a sense of responsibility and ownership over what takes place in their room. Children assist the teachers in creating classroom rules, themes of the week and topics to discuss just to name a few. The Dragon Fly room is a great environment where your child can develop their social and educational gains that will contribute to their overall success in a kindergarten program.
